During the past week, I had the opportunity to watch “My Big Fat Greek Wedding Part Three,” and I must say it did not disappoint. As someone who watched the first movie in my early teen years, transitioning into college, and had the pleasure of seeing the second installment, I have always found these to be delightful family films, filled with great humor and engaging storylines. Consequently, I was eagerly anticipating the release of the third installment and made sure to catch it in the theater. If you haven’t seen the first two films, don’t worry, as they provide a brief summary of the previous movies at the beginning.
As always, a central element of these movies is the big fat Greek wedding, and you can definitely enjoy the third installment without having seen the first two. Returning to my review, this film continues the story for those familiar with the earlier movies, featuring beloved characters who are just as funny as they were before.
One of the intriguing aspects of this film is the change in setting. This time, the story takes place in Greece. Unfortunately, the main character’s father has passed away, leaving behind a journal with a heartfelt request. He wishes for his daughter to return the journal to his childhood friends in their Greek village. The catch is that neither the daughter nor her brother have ever been to their father’s village, and they know little about it.
The journey unfolds as her aunt, spouse, and a few other family members join her on this trip. Upon arrival in the Greek village, they receive a letter from the mayor, revealing that only six people remain in the village, as most have relocated to cities or other parts of Greece. This revelation saddens the main character, as she is determined to fulfill her father’s dying wish.
Throughout the movie, we witness her reconnecting with family members and friends, meeting new characters, and, of course, the anticipation of another Greek wedding. I won’t reveal too many details to avoid spoilers, but I highly recommend watching the movie to fully enjoy the experience.
In conclusion, I found “My Big Fat Greek Wedding Part Three” to be an enjoyable combination of comedy and a captivating storyline. I sincerely hope they continue the series with yet another installment because I have thoroughly enjoyed these films. If you’re in the mood for a comedy movie, I wholeheartedly recommend it. That’s a quick review from me.
