On Wednesday preview night of Comic-Con 2024, I was able to visit the Comic-Con Museum located in Balboa Park, San Diego, California. I was honestly astonished by what I saw. First and foremost, I loved the layout. The third level at the top featured amazing comic book artwork from artists all over the globe. It was beautifully set out, and you could spend a long time just admiring the beautiful artwork.
There were many other attractions on the top floor, but I won’t go into too much detail because I would like you to visit the museum yourself. On the main level, there was a Todd McFarlane-signed Batman statue beautifully centered in the middle. It was gorgeous, and the artwork truly embodied the essence of Comic-Con. Additionally, on the main floor, there was an exhibit about Mars and NASA’s connection to the planet, including plans for the first woman to set foot on Mars. I really loved this exhibit.
On the third floor, there was a Betty Boop exhibit showcasing artwork and the history of her character in comics. They also played some Betty Boop cartoons for visitors to watch. I had the opportunity to meet one of the workers at the museum, and I was astonished by what she said. She told us that every six months to a year, the museum changes its exhibits. So, even though I had just seen all the amazing things, the museum’s offerings could definitely change.
Honestly, I had a great time at the museum. I spent about two hours there but felt like I could have stayed longer. I definitely recommend anyone going to Comic-Con or visiting the California area to check out the San Diego Comic-Con Museum. It is a must-see, and I look forward to going again the next time I return to San Diego. I just wanted to share some thoughts about the San Diego Comic-Con Museum and my great experience there.
