House Of The Dragon

So, truth be told, I was not a fan of the original Game of Thrones show due to the violence, nudity, and a lot of the adult content. I just was not really a fan of the show. I only watched the Night of the Stark because of the hype of that episode, I think it was called “The Long Night” or something like that. But other than that, I did not really watch the show.

Now, I had heard about House of the Dragon, and what captured my attention with this one was that it was supposed to be diverse. The main man that’s a part of the show, I forget his name, was the original writer of the show and was supposed to be more involved in this one. It was supposed to be more book-accurate, or at least more of what he envisioned for the characters.

First of all, the diversity definitely captured my attention because I remember the original show was completely whitewashed with no diversity. Seeing a diverse, woman-led show in a fantasy setting made me very curious. I was only going to give the first episode a chance, and before I knew it, I ended up watching the whole season and really liked it. I got excited about season two, which so far has not disappointed.

It’s honestly just as good as the first season. It’s a very sad story, set in a fictional world called King’s Landing. House of the Dragon is about a fictional family that owns dragons and is the main ruler of this land. They are very powerful, smart, and intelligent people. During this time, there is a divide between the half-siblings because the father had children with two different women. We get to see how the main princess, Rhaenyra Targaryen, and her brother, Aegon Targaryen, basically fight for the throne.

It’s a very interesting story showing how all these events lead to one big battle, and you get to see the big battle that’s going to happen and what causes the downfall of the House of the Dragon. Overall, I definitely recommend the show, but I would say it’s for 18+ because it does have nudity, violence, and dark content.

However, I actually like the plot. The diversity does not feel forced; it feels like it’s part of the plot. The women are written well and are not portrayed with certain stereotypes that I’ve seen in other women-led shows. The acting is really well done, the CGI for the dragons is pretty good, the sets are beautiful, the costumes are really nice, and the landscapes are very beautiful.

I honestly like the show and think it’s great. It just got renewed for season three, and I look forward to seeing the rest of the show.
