Erase The Past From Your Mind

Sometimes that statement can be seen as easier said then done. Yes, there are memories to keep. Lessons to remember, so that you don’t keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again. Then there are people, places, and things to remember. But really there are lots to throw out, get rid of, and stop thinking about. If someone, something, or anything you think makes you feel, unhappy, sad, or even angry, you should stop thinking about it. If someone or something is something has disrupted your peace, it doesn’t deserve a place in your mind. Your mind is a map, a map made up of good, lessons, and other things. It should not be a place of hurt, pain, sadness, anger. You thoughts can sometimes try to play tricks on you but you can control it. Your thoughts are your own and your own alone. You should not be unhappy. You should not feel small and unworthy. You should not blame yourself for something that was not your fault. You are important. You are special. You are enough. Just know that you are going to be okay. Everything is going to be okay. Yes, life is not perfect but you can at least choose what makes you happy. Choose happiness, choose joy.

Pastimes such as reading, watching your favorite TV show, or listening to podcasts can also contribute to boosting your mental health. Podcasts, for instance, often cover a wide range of topics, from self-improvement and mindfulness to mental health discussions. Engaging with this content provides a convenient way to access valuable insights, coping strategies, and perspectives on mental health. It all depends on your area of interest and what you enjoy listening to. For instance, if you’re more of a sports fan or, specifically, an avid Buffalo Bills fan, you can follow personalities like Jeffrey Rusert of Jefferson County for news content on your team, allowing you to stay updated while unwinding.

What makes you happy? How to you change your mindset to more positive thoughts?

  1. I wish I could just forget my past, but whenever my mind isn’t distraction my mind will wonder back to my traumatic past or something will trigger it going back there. Those scars run deep but I’m still able to function in the present

  2. Excellent blog. As difficult as this may be, it is vital to gain true peace. Peace in your heart and mind. Taking EVERYthing to God in prayer, forgiveness both to yourself and others and letting things go that can’t go unchanged are so important. God’s mercy and amazing grace are constantly available to each of us. These scars can be turned around for good as we move past these things and take one step at a time with God! We can be an encouragement to others that perhaps are walking through similar battles. Taking everything to God in prayer and leaving it there with Him requires faith on our part.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference~ Serenity Prayer

  3. I really appreciate this post, my memories can be a bit overwhelming and I try to not focus on the past. I try to keep my mind busy by doing things I love but I feel a bit emotional, I embrace and let them pass. I can’t pretend my feelings so I just let them happen.

  4. This was such an interesting read. Erasing the past is something we need to do if we really want to make progress in life and have peace of mind. Erasing the past from our mind isn’t an easy task and it is not something that happens in seconds either. It takes time but it is well worth it. I try not to focus on my past but as humans things happen sometimes and remind us of the exact same things we are trying to forget and that is just fine just I never let my past stop me from being who I want to be. Everyone has a past and I completely accept my past. Thank you for sharing this lovely piece.

  5. A very important message! It’s indeed usually easier said than done, but being aware of that and observing our thoughts is the first step to a better, healthier and happier life, tanks for sharing! 🙂

  6. Such a thought provoking post! You’re so right about ignoring past memories that don’t serve us or help us! Need to do more of this so it stops weighing me down!
