Recently, at this past San Diego Comic-Con International 2023, I had the opportunity to conduct my first interview. I must say I was nervous and excited—so excited to have this opportunity. For some tips that I recommend to prepare for an interview, first, I suggest looking up the person you’re interviewing and the company. Gather as much information as you can about them to establish a personal connection and understand their connection to the company or institution you’re interviewing them for.
Next, definitely research the company thoroughly. Ensure you have ample information about the company’s background. You can keep notes on your phone or jot them down on a notepad, whatever is more convenient for you. Having these notes can be helpful during the interview.
Then, prepare for questions. Look up common interview questions and those specific to the company. Additionally, explore the company’s social media accounts to see what people are saying about them on Instagram, Facebook, or any other social platforms. This will give you insights into what to ask during the interview.
Finally, ask the questions you want to know about the company. If there’s something you’re personally interested in, don’t hesitate to inquire.
Get The Right Equipment. A reliable microphone like shotgun mics. Also, consider getting a good camera and a tripod if you’re conducting the interview by yourself. Alternatively, if possible, have a friend or family member join you to provide support and encouragement.
Lastly, remember to enjoy yourself. It sounds like you were in a comfortable, casual environment at the Comic-Con, so be yourself and have fun. I’m glad to hear that you had a great conversation during your first interview, and I hope you look forward to conducting more interviews in the future!
