So, I’m only into the first episode of this show and haven’t finished the season yet, so I just want to make that clear from the beginning. I saw the preview for it on Max and thought, “You know what? I definitely want to check it out.”
Just a heads-up: this show is rated MA for mature content, so I would definitely recommend it for adults. The show centers around the Suicide Squad, starting with Harley Quinn and the Joker committing a robbery. During this time, Harley stops to get some drinks and ends up being attacked by Katana. She gets kidnapped and put into the Suicide Squad, working for Amanda Waller.
In the process, Harley Quinn meets the other characters of the Suicide Squad, and they are teleported to an alternate universe filled with pigs and knights. They are trying to figure out why they are on this mission, though the first episode doesn’t fully explain it. You get the sense that they were brought together as a team for this purpose.
I have to say, the animation is amazing. I thought it was very cool, and the anime style really nailed the DC characters. I definitely love DC animation—it’s pretty impressive. Overall, I think it’s a promising start to the show. I look forward to watching the rest of the season and will update my review with my full thoughts. Just wanted to share my initial impressions.
