Midnight at the Pera Palace

The second season was very interesting, but if you haven’t seen season one, you might feel a bit lost. I’d recommend watching season one before diving into season two.

To recap, we know that the Para Palace is essentially a time machine portal. With the right keys, you can go back in time, depending on which room you’re in, and it always has to be at a specific time of night. The main character helped save the day and was about to return home when she discovered that she was actually a time-travel baby. That’s basically how season one ended.

Season two picks up exactly where season one left off, with her putting her younger self back in the time she’s meant to be: 1995. Now, she’s curious about who her mother is and wants to learn more about her. However, her good friend advises against it, warning her not to mess with time because there are consequences. She doesn’t want to hear it and eventually turns back time to when her mom existed. From there, she embarks on a quest to find her mother, not realizing that the man who loves her is trying to find her, and all of this is affecting the timeline, altering the future every day.

This season had much more action, romance, and higher stakes. Personally, I enjoyed season one a bit more than season two, but I still liked the show enough to keep watching. I think they could continue with another season because the concept of time travel, constantly trying to fix the past and future, and intertwining their lives is compelling. At the end of the day, it’s about two people who fall in love but, because they live in different times, everything they do affects how the world works and can alter the entire universe. That’s an interesting premise.

Overall, I thought the season was pretty good. The script was great, the sets were beautiful, and the costumes were impressive. While I preferred season one, I’m looking forward to, and hope for, another season.
