Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 feels like a noticeable step up from Season 1.
While I enjoyed the first season, Season 2 delivers more of the Percy dynamic many fans have been waiting for. The energy feels more confident. The character interactions feel sharper. And the emotional layers begin to deepen — especially for Percy and Annabeth.
A Stronger Percy, But Less Grover
One thing that stood out this season is how much more we get from Percy. His growth feels clearer, and his presence carries more weight. The “Percy dynamic” — that mix of bravery, insecurity, and determination — feels more developed.
However, I do feel like Grover was pushed slightly to the side this season. His comedic timing wasn’t as strong as it could have been, and some of the jokes felt a bit cheesy. That said, the actor still does a great job with what he’s given, and Grover remains a lovable character. He just didn’t feel as central as before.
Let Kids Have Kid Shows
One of my favorite things about this season is something simple: it feels like a kids’ show — and that’s okay.
Not everything needs to evolve into darker, adult-driven storytelling. We’ve seen that shift happen with shows like Stranger Things, which started with a younger tone and gradually leaned more mature.
With Percy Jackson, I appreciate that it’s staying accessible for kids. Yes, there are changes from the books. Yes, some scenes are edited or simplified. But it works for its target audience. It’s fun. It’s adventurous. It’s slightly cheesy at times — and that’s part of the charm.
As an adult viewer, I’m still enjoying it. I just go into it understanding that it’s meant for younger audiences. Once you accept that, it becomes easier to enjoy.
Strong Foreshadowing and Character Growth
Season 2 does a great job with foreshadowing future events. You can clearly see the seeds being planted for what’s to come, and that layered storytelling adds depth.
One of my favorite episodes was the Sirens storyline. Watching Annabeth confront her fears and recognize what she still needs to work on was powerful. It gave her more emotional complexity and showed that strength isn’t just physical — it’s internal growth.
I also appreciated seeing more of Annabeth’s relationships with the other characters. Her leadership qualities and intelligence shine even brighter this season.
Final Thoughts: Is Percy Jackson Season 2 Worth Watching?
Yes.
Season 2 feels more confident, more character-driven, and more aligned with the heart of the series. While Grover could have had stronger comedic moments, Percy and Annabeth’s development makes up for it.
If you’re expecting a perfectly faithful book adaptation, you may notice differences. But if you’re open to a fun, adventurous, kid-focused fantasy series with meaningful foreshadowing and growth, this season delivers.
I’m genuinely looking forward to Season 3.
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5
