Predator: Badlands was honestly really good. If you haven’t already seen Prey on Hulu or explored the broader Alien universe, I definitely recommend checking those out first because this film clearly connects the worlds in a way that actually makes sense.
What I loved most about Predator: Badlands is how it blends the Predator franchise with the Alien universe without feeling forced or cheesy. The crossover works naturally, and the story stays focused, intense, and fast-paced from start to finish.
At its core, the film follows a Predator warrior navigating the Badlands on a mission to prove himself. He’s trying to complete a successful kill so he can return home as a hero—especially important because of his complicated family history, including the fact that his father killed his own brother. That backstory adds emotional weight and motivation, which isn’t something we always get in Predator films.
The movie is packed with nonstop action, but it also introduces an interesting dynamic involving a robotic character tied to the same corporation seen in the Alien franchise. This company is hunting the same powerful alien creature, hoping to weaponize it for their own purposes. Watching both the Predator and the corporation chase the same target creates a compelling back-and-forth and raises the stakes throughout the film.
One of the most interesting themes is how the film contrasts humanity, artificial intelligence, and the Predator species. The company’s robots are portrayed in different ways—some almost human, others completely emotionless—while the Predator himself shows unexpected emotion, honor, and personal code. There’s even a running joke where the Predator refers to the robot as a “tool,” insisting he only saved it because it was useful, not because it mattered. That contrast was surprisingly effective and even a little funny.
Overall, Predator: Badlands is well-made, exciting, and never slows down. It avoids being corny, delivers strong action, and expands the universe in a smart way. I genuinely enjoyed it and would absolutely watch future installments if this direction continues.
If you’re a fan of the Predator franchise, the Alien series, or sci-fi action films in general, this one is worth your time.
