First and foremost, I have to say that I am not a Borderlands fan; I have not played the game. So, I went to the movie with basically no knowledge about it, only hearing obvious bad reviews. I just wanted to make sure that’s clear. I went into the movie wondering if it was really as bad as everyone said it was. And yes, it is pretty bad. The plot is pretty weak, and it’s not really great.
The main plot revolves around a world originally built by aliens, with secret vaults that can only be opened by certain species. All the humans are trying to find these vaults and take them over. There is a main team hired to find a girl who can open the vaults for them.
Overall, the jokes were just okay—very silly. There was a lot of action, and the script was mediocre. Honestly, I think the casting choice, aside from Tiny Tina, was kind of the best choice. The actress who played her did really well and seemed to be the only one who matched the storyline in my opinion.
But overall, I definitely do not recommend this movie. It really was not the best, and it should have been maybe on Netflix or a streaming service instead. It’s not really suited for theaters; it felt like it was made just because of the action scenes and the cast of popular actors.
