Florida Supercon 2025: A Healing Weekend in Miami with Press Passes from HeadphonesThoughts

After a challenging year, returning to Florida Supercon 2025 in Miami was both a refreshing escape and a powerful reminder of why I love attending fan conventions. The last time I was able to attend in person was back in 2023, when I was first honored to receive press passes for my blog, HeadphonesThoughts. That experience was unforgettable, and although I was granted press passes again in 2024, I was unable to attend due to last-minute personal reasons. I still wrote a blog post and supported the event on social media, grateful for the opportunity.

This year, in 2025, I was once again granted full weekend press passes—and this time, I made it to the convention in person! I live in the Orlando area, so it’s about a 3–4 hour drive to Miami. After a difficult season in my life—leaving a toxic job, reflecting deeply on my personal growth, and working on becoming a healthier version of myself—this trip felt like a symbolic fresh start.

Friday: The Road to Miami and the Show Floor

I left Friday morning and arrived in Miami just in time to check into my hotel, pick up my press credentials at Will Call, and make it to the show floor. I missed the first panel I had hoped to attend due to the drive, but walking the floor made up for it.

What I love about Florida Supercon is how accessible and welcoming the vendor space feels. It’s not just large brands and industry booths—it’s a strong community of indie artists, small businesses, and creators. The atmosphere was vibrant but not overwhelming, and the prices were more reasonable than what I’ve seen at larger cons. The creativity and talent on display were incredible.

After a long day, I went back to the hotel, watched Jurassic World, and rested up for a full day ahead.

Saturday: Panels, Community, and Connection

Saturday started strong with one of the weekend’s most moving panels: Jeremy Renner. He candidly shared his story of recovery after his accident, his thoughts on mental health, and his desire to return to acting. It was inspiring to hear his honest reflections, and his presence brought a lot of emotional depth to the con.

Next, I attended the Voices of The Bad Batch panel. I always appreciate hearing from voice actors—many shared the ups and downs of their careers and the importance of fan support at conventions like Supercon. The panel was both heartfelt and motivational.

The final panel of the day was with the voice cast from Final Fantasy. It was fascinating to hear how localization works—balancing staying true to the original Japanese script while adapting for Western audiences. The room was completely packed—standing room only—and the energy was incredible.

Back on the floor, I ran into Star Wars Theory, who was kindly meeting fans, signing autographs, and taking photos. That kind of accessibility and community is one of the things I truly love about cons like Supercon.

The show felt noticeably bigger than it was in 2023—more vendors, more programming, and more attendees. Lines were marked with tape on the floors, rooms were filled to capacity, and the buzz of excitement was everywhere.

I ended the night with dinner at The Cheesecake Factory (yes, I genuinely love it!)—conveniently located within walking distance of the convention center.

Sunday: Saying Goodbye with LOST and Star Wars

Sunday was bittersweet. After checking out of my hotel, I made it back to the convention center for a panel with cast members from LOST. Though I wasn’t a huge fan when it originally aired, I’ve since watched many episodes, and hearing the actors share behind-the-scenes stories and fan theories gave me a whole new appreciation.

The final panel I attended was with John Boyega from Star Wars. He spoke openly about his feelings regarding Finn’s character arc, his hopes for the industry, and the kinds of stories he wants to tell moving forward. His passion for storytelling and connection with fans really stood out.

After the panel, the first 50 attendees were invited to a free meet-and-greet with him, where we received a signed poster. This was a special experience—I’ve never done paid meet-and-greets, so it meant a lot to get this opportunity as part of the press pass perks.

A Weekend of Reflection and Renewal

This con meant more to me than just panels and merch—it was a healing trip. Though I’m still working through some difficult memories, this weekend gave me a sense of peace, creativity, and reconnection with the fan community I’ve always loved. It reminded me that I’ve grown, and I’m continuing to grow.

Thank you, Florida Supercon, for granting me press access again. It was truly an amazing experience. I look forward to applying again next year and continuing to share these stories and moments through my blog.

If you’re a fan of comics, sci-fi, anime, cosplay, or just want to feel like you’re part of something bigger, I highly recommend attending Florida Supercon in Miami. The venue is stunning, the programming is top-notch, and the people—attendees, guests, vendors, and staff—make it a truly memorable experience.
