There’s something powerful about loving something loudly.
Whether it’s pro wrestling, Broadway, pop music, or cinematic universes that take over the internet for months at a time, fandom has always been more than just entertainment. It’s identity. It’s community. It’s expression.
That’s exactly the space the upcoming Maddy Mania podcast is stepping into.
Ahead of the official launch event at the Godfrey Hotel Rooftop in Hollywood, I spoke with creator and host Maddy about building a podcast rooted in passion, perspective, and what she boldly calls “obsession as an art form.”
From Wrestling Dreams to a Pop Culture Platform
Maddy didn’t wake up one day and randomly start a podcast. The idea had been building for years.
“I’ve been tinkering with the idea of starting a podcast for a few years now,” she shared. “At first, I wanted to do a wrestling pod or one with my best friend, but schedules didn’t align. So mid-last year, I decided to just do one solo — not only about wrestling, but all pop culture that I love.”
The name Maddy Mania still nods to her wrestling roots — but the scope is much bigger.
We’re talking pro wrestling, Broadway, the MCU, K-pop, basketball, and artists like Ariana Grande. If it’s something she loves and has something to say about, it’s fair game.
And honestly? That kind of creative freedom is refreshing.
“Obsession Is an Art Form”
The podcast tagline is bold: obsession is an art form.
In a culture that often treats intense fandom as embarrassing or unhealthy, Maddy is reframing the narrative.
“Obsession often has a negative connotation,” she explained. “But obsessions can be good. It’s nice to have things you love so much as a way to express yourself.”
She’s clear about the boundaries, though. Healthy obsession means being emotionally invested without crossing into parasocial behavior or harming your mental health.
That distinction matters — especially in today’s hyper-online fandom spaces.
Navigating Fandom Without the Toxicity
Fandom can be joyful, but it can also be… a lot.
Instead of leaning into drama or controversy, Maddy Mania plans to highlight the positive side of fandom culture.
That intentionality stood out to me. There’s enough negativity online. Creating space for celebration, nostalgia, analysis, and connection feels purposeful.
An Insider’s Perspective
What separates this podcast from the crowded pop culture landscape?
Maddy brings more than enthusiasm — she brings experience.
As both a publicist in the entertainment world and an entertainment journalist, she offers insider perspective that many fan-led podcasts don’t have. That dual lens — industry knowledge plus genuine fandom — could make for some layered conversations.
It’s not just commentary. It’s context.
Episode One: Wrestling Takes Center Stage
The premiere episode will focus on wrestling and feature a prominent face who has worked in both WWE and TNA Wrestling.
For longtime wrestling fans, that crossover alone is intriguing.
And if Maddy gets her dream guest one day? It would be CM Punk — her favorite wrestler since she was 11.
That level of long-term fandom is exactly what this show celebrates.
The Artist Who Shaped Her
When I asked whether a fandom had genuinely shaped who she is, the answer came quickly: Ariana Grande.
“She cares deeply, just like I do,” Maddy said.
There’s something honest about that. The artists and stories we connect with during our teenage years often leave permanent fingerprints on our identity.
Building Something Solo
Launching a podcast independently is no small task.
“The biggest challenge has been the editing process,” she admitted. “This is a one-woman show — everything from the logo design to the clips I choose to share is all me.”
If you’re a creative, you already know: the behind-the-scenes work is often the most invisible and the most exhausting.
But it’s also deeply rewarding.
The Heart of Maddy Mania
At the core of it all, Maddy hopes listeners feel content.
She wants people to see themselves in her — to feel validated in having multiple passions. To feel confident being unapologetically themselves. To find community.
And honestly, that might be the most powerful part of this whole thing.
In a world that constantly tells people to tone it down, niche themselves, or pick one lane, Maddy Mania feels like an invitation to embrace the chaos of loving many things deeply.
The official launch takes place March 5 in Hollywood, celebrating the premiere episode and the beginning of weekly releases.
If obsession really is an art form, Maddy is ready to curate the gallery.
