Black Adam Movie Review from Headphonesthoughts

When I first watched the movie Shazam, I knew that DC would make a Black Adam movie. Anyone who has read the comics or understands the comics knows the two stories connect. I was honestly excited when I heard The Rock was making the movie. He did produce the Shazam movie anyway. When I first saw the trailer for Black Adam, though, I was not too excited. I thought the trailer was a little bland and needed something more. As someone who has seen many Rock movies, I knew what type of movie I was going to see. The Rocks movies are not meant to be critically acclaimed, but the audience/movie-going people usually love them. I booked my IMAX movie tickets and went off to see the movie on its opening weekend.

What I liked:

The action is impressive. It is a totally must-see in IMAX. This movie was totally a Rock movie. If you don’t like the Rock or usually his movies you can skip this one. Also as a comic book fan, I enjoyed the way the story was told. Yes did they change things but as most books to cinema movies are changed. They can’t keep everything the same.

What I disliked:

I wanted Shazam in the movie. These two characters are so connected and I wanted the seven sins. Hopefully, if we get another movie we will see the two characters connect more. I would recommend anyone who wants to see the movie go see Shazam first and then see Black Adam.

Overall, I liked the movie and want to see it again. I don’t want to give too much away. I liked the plot and the heroes and villains of the story. I liked the cameos. Overall, for me, this is a go-see movie.

What did you think of the movie? What is your favorite Rock movie?

  1. I’m looking forward to seeing this movie but like you I have felt that the trailers were quite bland and made me feel like the movie was not going to be very good. I know that pretty much anything The Rock does will be entertaining so I am going to give it a try (sadly, I’ll probably have to wait for it to come out on DVD or streaming). Great review — thanks for sharing your thoughts!
