Never Met A Clark Before? CW Network Superman and Lois – My Thoughts

Have You Ever Met Someone With the Name Clark Before? Yes, I have, my good friend that I went to High School with has the last name Clark. I was laughing so much when I saw this scene, and immediately thought of her. Yes, I have met a Clark before.

CW Network Superman and Lois has it’s ups and downs, so far in the season. Their are a few things I like about the show and a few things I’m not liking. First, I must say I am superman fan. I have been since I was young. My father would watch the Justice League animated series with me when I was younger. That show helped me understand the DC universe and lot of it’s characters. I also have a good memory of my father and I watching the 90’s show Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. I have been a superman fan since I was young. Now, I have tried to watch a few CW DC shows and to be honest, I have not really enjoyed them. I liked the first season of the Flash and even saw Carlos Valdes (who plays Vibe on the Show) at a comic book conference, where he confirmed that future season would address Flashpoint. After season 2 I just stopped watching the show, I simply lost interest. Supergirl, Arrow, Batwoman and the other shows on CW just simply I just didn’t enjoy watching. When CW announced that they were doing a Superman show, I was interested because first the main character is Superman, who I am a fan of. Just purely out of curiousty I watched the show. Now, their are elements of the show that I do like.

What I like about the show:

Lois Lane is a true detective in this show. Personally her whole character arc so far has kept me watching the show. I enjoy getting to see here uncover what Morgan Edge is doing in Smallville. She is a great journalist in the show. Lois Lane takes good care of her sons. I enjoy watching her be a mother and wife to Clark.

Clark Kent is portrayed as the nerdy guy we have seen in other adaptions of him. I like the way that he cares about his sons Jordan and Jonathon. He decides to train his son Jonathon about his new abilities and even joins his sons High school football team as an assistant just to spend more time with his sons. I personally liked this family dynamic on the show as I don’t usually see this on screen often.

Superman in action is pretty cool on TV. For a CW Network budget, they actually show him flying, in action, and strong. When Kryptonite hits him he doesn’t just give up the fight he keeps going and tries everything possible to save the people. I like how caring Superman is in the show.

Now to what I don’t like:

Way to much screen time on Jonathon and Jordan Kent’s drama. Yes, they are the son’s of Superman but they get way to much screen time, I want more Superman and Lois. I mean the show is called Superman and Lois.

Jordan is always complaining. It’s starting to get annoying. His character is written as just ungrateful. Yes, is character does through things but his parents are their for him and he is constantly blaming them for everything. Most of the time he causes his own problems. He seems like he only cares about Sarah most of the time. For example his character starts to get super hearing in stead of him practicing his now ability he just gives up. Then he thinks about Sarah and then starts to gain control over his powers.

Lana Lang and her family are just a mess. I don’t understand why they are getting so much screen time. They just constantly argue and are just mad at each other. I don’t like their scenes. Most of their problems would be solved if each of them just communicated with each other and listened to each other. Lying and not communicating doesn’t solve any problems. The characters are just poorly written.

Stand Outs of the Show

Lois Lane and John Henry Irons team ups are pretty cool. They are the two main characters that each episode make character progress and really add to the story. Both actors do a great job working together. I don’t want to say too much as I don’t want to give away too much of the plot of the show away.

I am currently still watching the show and I am curious how this season will end. I might write another blog about the show when the season is over.

You can watch Superman and Lois on CW Network on Tuesdays at 9 PM ET/8 PM CT or on the CW APP the next day.
